Sociological (the ways in which a society can affect an organization)
Technological (the effect of new and emerging technology)
Legal (the effect of national and world legislation)
Environmental (the local, national and world environmental issues)
Stakeholder Interview
An interview is a structured conversation with a stakeholder. Usually it is one-to-one and the topic(s) of discussion is decided in advance. It could be face-to-face, over a video conferencing tool like Zoom or over the phone.
Benefits: opportunity to introduce yourself, identify key stakeholders and their concern, address issues and conflict, enhance your credibility by demonstrating interest in stakeholder concerns.
Challenges: time consuming, skills and preparation required.
Survey
A questionnaire-based quantitative tool. It can be used with both internal and external stakeholders. It is effective in understanding of the stakeholder's concerns, perceptions, knowledge, attitudes, and experiences.
Benefits: provides opportunity to a large number of stakeholders to voice their concerns
Challenges: can be time consuming and expensive, requires skills, answers submit may reflect stakeholders indifference and lack of interest
