OKR

Objectives and Key Results

OKR is a:

"..goal-setting framework for defining and tracking objectives and their outcomes generally attributed to former CEO of Intel Corporation Andy Grove"

OKR stands for Objectives and Key Results. OKR consists of an objective which is a clearly defined goal and one or more key results linked to the objective to measure the outcomes.

SMART objectives

OKR has many similarities to SMART objectives which are:

  • Specific

  • Measurable

  • Achievable

  • Realistic, and

  • Time-bound

SMART objectives are attributed to George T. Doran, a consultant and former Director of Corporate Planning for Washington Water Power Company.

Management by Objectives (MBO)

OKR model is also similar to Management by Objectives (MBO) model popularized by Peter Drucker.
