Technology risks can be further classified into:

  1. Architecture Risk - Risk that the architecture fails to deliver the project requirements or outcomes

  2. Budget Risk - Risk that the budget of the project is based on invalid assumptions or inaccurate estimates or forecasts

  3. Facility Risk - Risk of failure of any facility hosting technology resources such as data center

  4. Legacy System Risk - Risk due to legacy nature of system emanating from old or outdated technology, security vulnerabilities, skill scarcity etc.

Asset Class

It is the class of assets a risk may belong to. This classification will facilitate analysis of risks related to a particular asset class.

Asset class includes, but are not limited to:

  1. Infrastructure (stack, IT Component)

  2. Application

  3. Data Entity

  4. Intellectual Property

  5. Business Process

  6. Provider

  7. Initiative (demand, project or program)
